We are dedicated to dismantling systems of mass incarceration through evidence-based reform and the centering of impacted voices. Our year-one priorities target critical levers of change within the New Jersey criminal legal system.
TPV Reform
The Beyond Prisons Coalition NJ advocates for comprehensive TPV (Technical Parole Violation) reform to stop the cycle of re-incarceration for non-criminal rule breaking. We prioritize policies that keep families together and support successful community reintegration.
Harm Reduction
We champion public health strategies that prioritize the dignity and safety of New Jersey residents who use drugs. By advocating for syringe access, overdose prevention, and the decriminalization of survival, our coalition moves the needle from punishment to compassion and life-saving support.
Women’s Justice
The Beyond Prisons Coalition NJ is committed to addressing the specific systemic barriers faced by women in the justice system. We advocate for gender-responsive sentencing, enhanced maternal healthcare for incarcerated women, and comprehensive reentry support that recognizes the unique roles women play in their families and communities.
